Odin Climatologies

The climatology files contain monthly averaged values 2001-2009 from the two Odin instruments: OSIRIS and SMR. The following species are presently processed: N2O, HNO3, CO, O3, NO2 and NOy.

Data Access:

NetCDF

AVI

CCMVal2

Information:

Climatologies are processed and named using five variables:

Latitudes: Zonal Means (zm) or Equivalent latitude Means (eqlm)Instrument: SMR, OSIRIS or Odin (meaning both instruments)Species: N2O, HNO3, CO, O3, NO2 or NOyQuantity: Volume Mixing Ratio (vmr) or Number Density (nd) Levels: Altitude, Pressure or Potential temperature

File naming convention:

clim_monthly_"Latitudes"_"Instrument"_"Species"_"Quantity"_"Levels".nc

Note that the vertical levels may vary from file to file (depending on the vertical distribution of the species). The latitude bins are always 10 degrees.

Climatologies are produced in both NetCDF-format and as movie files (AVI). In addition, Matlab-7 files can be received on request. More information, including references to published papers, are found in the NetCDF-file attributes.

Data are freely distributed according to the Odin data rules but users are asked to contact Samuel Brohede (samuel.brohede@chalmers.se) or Jo Urban (joaurb@chalmers.se) on quality issues and to provide information on the study. Coauthoring should be considered for publications with Odin climatologies.
